Recent Developments of non-kolmogorov Turbulence in Free-Shear Flows

Experimental and theoretical studies demonstrate the existence of homogeneous non-kolmogorov dissipations in boundary-free turbulent flows, grid-generated turbulence, in both forced and freely decaying periodic turbulent flows, and also in constant pressure gradient turbulent boundary layer flows. As a consequence, the mean flow quantities and flow widths differ fundamentally from conventional scalings. General power law scalings and the new exponential scaling in Lie group theoretic approach in which statistical mean turbulent model equations remain form-invariant under the symmetry group of transformations are shown for planar plume flow in particular.
In this talk, the general form of non-kolmogorov dissipations in boundary free turbulence will be discussed at length.
