In the past few years research progress in high Reynolds number turbulence has been made on particle dispersion and coherent structures in turbulent shear flows, and on the non-equilibrium and intermittent nature of the interscale energy transfers which determine turbulence dissipation. Turbulent boundary layers have been the focus of much attention, including non-equilibrium boundary layers. The workshop’s aim is to discuss these different aspects of the turbulence, namely coherent structures, intermittency, cascade and non-equilibrium, in relation to each other and in relation to some recent developments in turbulence modeling, skin friction and subgrid-scale modeling for large eddy simulation
